Final Production

Prior to the “Final Production” my website was laid out completley different. I had a homepage that was all informational and included photos, videos, and logos from Runners Roost that I pulled off of either their website or used photos I actually had taken for the run group. From the homepage there was an icon you could click in order to access all my blog posts. This last week I spent a lot of time completley revamping the set up and the look of my site. I felt like with out explaining where to locate the blogs nobody would have been able to find them unless I provided a direct link or photo of what the icon looked like. What I did instead was utilized the themes that are provided by WordPress and I made it so the homepage and blog posts all showed up on the same page. From there I added a lot of different blocks that were also provided that would be uniuqe to what infromation I would want to obtain from a vistor on my site. I also included a bunch of those photos I took from run club in real life as well as a funny Forrest Gump Gif at the bottom. Ultimatley I tried to make it more user friendly. It took me a long time of playing around to figure out how to start over without getting rid of all my blog assignments! In the future I would like to figure out how to incoporate more colors and different fonts as I had a hard time figuring this out with using a theme that was provided and also only being able to find outdated WordPress tutorials. Using themes provided the artist can restrict what you have the ability to customize.

I learned a lot about copright policies and what you should not post as well as good resources for content you are allowed to post. I also learned about the varities of anayltics tools. Since this website is for a class and not for a real life scenerio I did not create any accounts on with analytic websites and applications. This run group currently has a offical page up and running. I also enjoyed just general infromation in the beginning about which platfroms generate which age groups and how popular they are. Finally, I found it fun to brainstorm ways that you could use VR on a webpage or for a project for whatever company you may be working for! I took Tech and Social Media this semester as a required Sports Managment course where we also learned similar things that I learned in this class and it was fun because I already knew a lot about it and how to answer questions that Dr. Evans was asking. This is an area that I am interested in when i’m working for a company so knowing these things already puts me a step ahead of who they may have designated the role to in the meantime! Runners Roost doesn’t have an expierenced social media person putting together their website so it could turn into a great opportunity for me! Finally, I did discuss with my boss about the fact that they had constantly been using Google images for their posts and could get in trouble for that.

The assignment that asked for us to make social media examples was the one I decided to skip in the mindst of transitioning all five of my classes to an online setting. Therefore I spent a good chunk of time making some for this portion of the assignment. Two of my chosen social media channels were Facebook and Instagram. Below you will find an example for each and they will be promoting a run club event!

I decided to create an Infographic for my third social media content type. This is not one I initially thought of when I started. This was a fun and simple one to create that can be utilized to market and promote any event. This is also something you could print copies of and include in each customers bag upon purchase with a nutritional item or sticker to spread awareness and grow participants.

A7- Social Media Plan

This is what a social media plan would look like for Runners Roost Aurora Run Club. Highlighted are the days that the content needs to be posted to be most effective. This is a weekly and monthly view. You have the ability to see what is on the schedule for the week and the month in entirety broken down by colors and lists. The first item on the list will reflect what needs to be the first priority for the day. The Content Repository breaks down what content will need to be created or posted for that specific event.

A6-Social Media Analysis and Analytics

Analytical reports generate data that help determine whether goals and objectives for using social media are met. Identifying the data that matters the most, selecting the tools to gather the data, and providing guidelines for using the data are essential to define before entering the world on analytics. With this in mind, produce as part of your campaign content and strategy the following:

  1. Define your goals and objectives.  What question do you want to answer using data? My goal for this project is to increase awareness and participants for Runners Roost Run Club. The objectives for this goal are to utilize social media to provide information about the club and connect with the community, utilize the 100 Mile Club to keep runners returning, and use raffles and discounts to get them in the store and participating on the platforms. Using the data can give me feedback on the traffic on the platforms that I am trying to capture, as well as the amount of likes, shares, and posts I am obtaining. The data will also help me determine the right content to be creating.
  2. Select the analytical tools that best benefit your topic and content. I would like to focus on using Google Analytics so I can utilize the growth, report, and data collector tools. This application will also help me properly read the data and it’s results so I can integrate it properly towards my goal. I would also like to use the Facebook Analytics tool as the auidence I am reaching is the 21+ age group which is found to be highly active on the Facebook platform.
  3. Identify specific data to collect and analyze with these analytical tools. The data that I will again be collecting and analyzing is the amount of likes, shares, comments, and posts with my content creation. By using the data I can achieve my goal of turning the platform traffic to traffic at club and the store. I can also view and follow how many people are viewing the site and make the site more attractive to draw them in. By creating banners, graphics, and eye catching colors I can grab the viewers right as they reach the site. All content can be measured so I can analyze the effect of anything I do to my platforms.
  4. Develop guidelines that define how the data will be applied to determine whether or not goals and objectives have been met through the use of social media. The guidelines can be steps, instructions, or applied to specific uses of social media – events, fundraising, donations, audience engagement, etc. My guidelines are exactly that of specific uses of social media. I am creating content for the events and sales at my store. Run Club is an event held at each Runners Roost location on different days so I want to create content to promote the events. If the events are helping someone out directly then I would be implementing the fundraising or donation guidelines. For example, one of our current run group members has a nephew with cancer so we did a huge run to reach his GoFundMe goal. With this we are gaining the exposure of helping our local runners. We have also helped local girl scouts with their cookie sales/goals by hosting them in the store during events. Runners Roost is Colorado owned so we want to hon in on our community. Our biggest guideline is keeping Colorado active and helping the community enjoy the run. This can be done virtually during COVID-19 or even busy work weeks, but also in person at our club.

A5-Augmented and Virtual Reality

1. The future of augmented and virtual reality is very bright. The above Instagram post I created represents the movement in these different technologies and how it can help in an educational setting and with an individuals well-being. When asking friends and family their thoughts on this technology they describe it as “helpful,” “smart,” “unique,” and “useful.” With so many students going through remote learning right now this virtual technology can really help visually while also getting the student involved into more hands on learning. Many questions have come up when it comes to students who were enrolled into courses requiring a lab that have had to transfer to online platforms. With this technology these students could actually practice dissection and experiments. Teachers are also responding as they are enjoying the creativity behind remote learning. Some of my past high school teachers have said implementing virtual and augmented reality would make their online courses “that much better” for their students.

2. Technology is evolving quickly, I still remember carrying around my first portable CD player. New technology is exciting as it continues to turn large tasks into smaller ones. Since my WordPress site is focusing on “Runners Roost Aurora Run Club,” this technology can be used when runners are trying to watch what they are eating or to keep track of what they are lacking. It could even go as far as uploading this intake to their Garmin or Apple watch and creating a formula that incoporates the calories they are burning with the caloric intake. One of the pictures on my Instagram post above shows someone hovering over a pizza with their phone. The phone then pops up with a list of ingrediants. What does the future of AR and VR in social media look like to you? I think it’s primarly allowing us to get an advanced look on the world around us. Being able to use technology on something sitting right in front of you opens up a whole new world of opportunity.

3. I have not been able to actually incorporate my ideas on augmented and virtual reality as I would need an experts help in order to do so. I think it would be really cool to have my run club participants sign in or fill out waivers on a virtual clipboard that would then convert to a saved file on a computer. This way, I can easily track the participants and based on who is a regular and who shows up once or twice a month/year. Currently, we use a regular old clipboard and fresh sheet of paper every week. I would also like to create a Snapchat filter that goes active when someone walks into our store, as well as a separate one for run club nights and events. I think this would be a fun way to get people to take pictures and share them on our social media sites. Finally, I have also thought of providing a virtual run club trail route that runners can download on their phones and run along with on their treadmill. I would provide the ability for participants to talk through this application no matter their location and timezone. This would help members stay movtivated as they can get their run in later if they can’t make it with the support of their run club friends.

4. My website is going to follow the more traditional project planning guidelines. I think since i’m promoting and marketing for a buisness it’s important to have a goal and creating content pertaining and helping to achieve said goal. In this case I am trying to grow my participation rates. However, I would still like to be creative and imaginable of the future and this virtual and augmented technology. There are great ideas that I have in mind, I just have to figure out how to properly pursure them.

A3- Part Two

Running Tips!

Looking to start getting into shape but don’t know where to start? We are here for you!

Step 1: Get fit for a good pair of running shoes at your local Runners Roost.

Step 2: Pick out some moisture wicking socks and apparel that will keep you dry and comfortable and move with you during your run.

Step 3: Come out and join Run Club. This way you will be held accountable and get out the door. It’s also way more fun to run with people than on your own!

Step 4: Enter some local races and set yourself a goal. This will also hold you accountable.

Step 5: Have fun and enjoy the expierence! The best way to ease into running is by taking it slow and one step at a time. Couch to 5k is a great program to get you into shape. Never compare yourself to other runners, we all move at our own pace.

A3-Part One

Alex Rivera

From regular gym goer to Marathon Maniac.

“If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.”

— Fred DeVito

Two years ago we found Alex at a local Vasa Fitness. We went in to set up a booth and promote everything Runners Roost has to offer. Little did we know we would change this young mans life in unimaginable ways. Alex used the gym every so often when he was feeling like getting out of the house, he was never a consistant goer. Just like most people he was struggling to find a passion and a purpose. Kathy Kuennan, a previous employee, was the head of the booth. With her out going and fun personality it drew Alex near the table. After a short conversation Alex found inspiration that he had never felt before. Alex attended his first Run Club with Aurora and it only took one before he caught the run bug and never missed a single one. To this day Alex still always ensures to come to our Tuesday night Run Groups while rallying others to join in on the event. Alex started with some 5ks and 10ks with the intent to work up to a half marathon. As Forest Gump would say “I just kept running,” and that Alex did. After a couple months of short races Alex went on to complete his first full marathon. Since then Alex has completed close to 50 marathons and is working towards a marathon in all 50 states. Alex quickly became a member of “Marathon Maniacs” and is always pushing others to show them they can do it too. Alex also takes on marathons as a pacer to help other meet their goals. We are extremley fotunate to be able to share a success story much like his. After completing his 50 states he will go on to compete in some big bad ultra marathons. Cheers to our very own Alex Rivera on all his future endeavors!
